X-lite
« on: February 14, 2005, 01:58:00 PM »

So, I recently received 15 X-lites, and I was very excited to install some of them. I had a friend's xbox that I thought I'd do first, so here goes:

I think this xbox was a 1.3 or a 1.4, I didn't really care cause I got the chip installed so fast it would have taken me too long to look up what version the xbox is.

So, I boot it up with no CD or HD attached, and the only thing I could get was the blue background of the cromwell bios. No menu, nothing... it would just lock up. So I decided to connect the external switch... same thing. So I decided to connect the controller. Same thing. So, getting worried at this point, I connected the  DVD drive and HD. bam.... came right up. Was easy to flash with the X-Chip 1.3 bios over http. Success

So, I got another box to mod, which was a 1.5 Halo edition. Popped the chip in, booted up, and it worked like it's supposed to. I hit the flash via http option, and it brings up the screen but I never get an IP address. So, I power down, reboot, and still no IP address. The box would just lock up. I ended up having to burn it to a CDRW and flash it that way. Once that was done and I booted slayers, it got an IP. It was just acting funny when it came to the network interface. But once again, another success.

Then I modded two more v1.0 xboxes, and they took me like 10 minutes a piece.

This chip freaking rules. Thanks easybuy2000!

Hi rtheil,

I jsut did a 1.4 Halo edition and did DHCP update with no issues.

Remember there are no 1.5 xbox's according to Xecuter as none has  seen, they are just 1.4's that require a little help on Power and Ground wires.  Although many dispit this anc claim 1.5's exist, I would say it would be safer to say 1.4 and 1.4b as they did with 1.6 and 1.6b.

Just for kicks put the X-Lite in recovery mode and see if you can acquire a IP.

You should NOT be flipping any switches on the X-Lite while it is powered ON. You should flip the dip switches only while the Xbox is powered off then power on the Xbox for it to take the new change.

I’m definitely not flipping any switches while the power is on… Once I got the ver. 1.3 bios loaded I powered off the box and flipped the switch to get out the recovery mode and then powered it back on.  Everything seems to work fine like that.  So then I powered it off, flipped the switch #1 to on to disable the chip and powered the box back on.  Well it seems to load ok for about the first 15 seconds but then goes to a screen that says, “Your xbox needs service” (or something very similar to this) and is listed in about 8 different languages.

Not sure if somehow I messed up the original bios or what.  Again any help is appreciated…. Also what program is compatible with x-lite for upgrading my HD?

Thanks again

Your m$ dashboard is probebly corrupt or your hard drive might not be locked.

Use Config Magic Final to see if your hard drive is locked

http://slayers.xbox-scene.com has a copy of the m$ dashboard even though it's an Evox auto installer, if you format you will lose your saves.

You can also use slayers 2.6 to upgrade your hard drive, just remember to unlock your old one and lock your new one. Search for this (tutorials)!

You need broadband and Bit Torrent for SlaYers.

Also make sure your m$ dashboard is named xboxdash.xbe and make sure xboxdash.xbe is not Evox! Evox should be evoxdash.xbe, btw you can lose your saves if you do not use SlaYers correctly.

You were right, it was my hard drive not being locked.  Everything seems to be working fine now.

I even got the evox auto installer installed.  Well, I got everything copied onto the drive but my original bios keeps loading by default and I don't see where I can change it so I can use the utilities from the auto installer.

Thanks for the help.
