X-lite In V1.6 Box Warning.
« on: February 05, 2005, 10:31:00 AM »

Hi All,

I just decided to test my X-Lite in my v1.6 rig and found a small flaw.  Let me explain.

After install, I did as CPOC and EASYBUY2000 say switch #1 off on modchip and guess what no power, connected X-Chip back and power.

After playing around with settings, I found that both Swicth #1 and Switch #2 on modchip must be set to off if using external power ( soldered to 5V source on PCB ).

Now it's working like a charm.

Sincerely,

Christine Young

I would like to thank christineyoung for pointing out the issuse with switch #1 that both dips have to be moved to the OFF position in order to enable the the 5 volt external source for the Xbox version 1.6.

It seems that the PCB marking is correct but means that SW1 is BOTH dips must be to ON or OFF position for it to work correctly.

I have corrected my switch setting guide to reflect this change.

The guide has been updated to version 1.2

MAD Props to easybuy2000 for caring about their customers. When I discovered that the spider chip v1.1 had a HUGE error in their install guide, and I notified them about it, they did nothing. They didn't give a flying fuck that I had proglems installing the chip. They were happy to already have their money.

Thanks easybuy2000!

The HTTP flashing guide has been released.

The guide explains in detail how to flash the X-Lite via both methods (router and crossover)

Easybuy2000: Guide looks good, but as always a few changes maybe required:
On DHCP router you using IP 192.168.1.1 for router you should make a note that some are 192.168.0.1, also I find it easier to have xbxo powered off then connect cat 5 then power on to detect IP for DHCP flashing, I have seen some Networks adapters on xbox that required total repower when network plugged in.  This could be due to original biso on xbox, eeprom settinsg etc casuing this. But we must always assume alternatives to main objective.   Other then that looks good, although soem screen shoots could add benefist to newbies.
