Hey The Duke of Ice, thanks for your reply.

To answer your questions, I flashed my x-chip using x-controll with the 'xchip_v1.3.bin' bios. I followed all the steps you listed in the bullet points too. Just no luck. Also I have the retail HD which does not have Evox installed on it.

I can't think of anything extra that you will have to do because you had the Chameleon installed first. I have the Chameleon installed on my V1.0 Box (However I have a bad power supply amonst other things......) And today I'm having a friend come over with his V1.0 as well.
Let me done some messing around with his V1.0 and see what I can come up with.

Off the top of my head, you can try loading up another Bios besides the V1.3

The Evox "M8plus.bin" should work.

To install is perty easy.
  • Start up X-Control.
  • Right click a empty 256K Bios bank.
  • Select Load Bios.
  • Load up "M8plus.bin".
  • Right click on the same Bios bank and select Boot.
  • Write all.
This should do the trick. But like I said earlier my buddy is comming by later today and I'll see if I run into any problems/idea's while I'm fiddling around with his X-Box.

I tried to mod my xbox using the x-chip with the x-chip 1.2 bios too. But no luck.  I have not tried any other bios'.

I installed the x-chip w/ the x-chip 1.2 bios on my bro's xbox and everything worked as the instructions said.  I did mine just like his but the only difference is that i had a chameleon chip in first where as my bro's was stock before i modded it.

It's it possible to put the x-chip bios on the chameleon chip?  All I really want is the option to turn the chip off so I can play xbox live.  (Excuse my techy ignorance if that is a stupid question.)

Hopefully you can get yours and your friends to work.  Keep me posted.

Worse comes to worse i'll have to send my chip back.

Thanks,
Shu

Hey

The Solderless adaptor for the Chameleon and the Xchip are slightly different.
The Xchip will not work on the Chameleon Adaptor but the Chameleon will work on the XChip adaptor.
That is how it is on my V1.0 xbox.

Close examination of both adaptors will show this.

I know thia because I asked for 10 solderless adaptors from EasyBuy and they sent me the ones that do not work. I was dicking around for ages and then when I looked at them the difference was apparent.

Have a look

Chameleon solderless does not supply +5V, the X-Chip solderless does this is pin #6 on LPC port not used on chameloen so why you can use xchip solderless with chameloen.

X-Chip requires 5V to run unlike other chips like chameleon that require 3.3V.
