X-chip Flashed Bios Not Working.
« on: January 16, 2005, 12:33:00 AM »

My friend has installed the Solderless X-Chip with USB programmer from Easybuy into a V1.1 xbox.
-It is installed correctly with all points making good contact. The X-Control software and drivers are installed on the PC, and working correctly.
-It sees the chip, can write to it, and upon rebooting the settings are still there as we left them.
-When the USB is plugged into the chip, the red light turns on.
-When X-Control is active, the light turns off as it should.
-The third bios bank (the first writable one) in X-Control has a working bios loaded to it and we have tried setting it to both "eject" and "y button."

However, when the xbox is booted up (either with the eject button, or "y button" pressed) it refuses to load the hacked bios, and simply starts with the original xbox bios and an error 13 (a 160 GIg HDD is installed, but has not been formatted, and has no dash, therefore, error 13)

Due to this problem, we cannot load Evox.

I have no idea what is wrong. If anyone could shed some light on the problem, it would be much appreciated, thanks. This is my first time in dealing with an X-Chip.

This is auctially a easy one to fix.

1st Step. When booting up (Any bios) then go into the setup for the X-Chip and enable LBA48. Here's some info about what this entails.  3rd post down
2nd Go to #xbins and download the Slayer's Auto Install V2.6.
-To get to Xbins if you don't know follow this Walkthough
3rd Follow the steps listed in the Slayers .pdf walkthough.
4th Make sure to do the "Load Raw" option when you flash your X-Chip.
5th If your X-Box is a V1.1 then you will want to load the EvoX_X-CHIP_BIOS_V1.3.sfv Bios.
6th Once your X-Chip is flashed, then take the given .ISO file from the Auto Installer and burn to a disk. I personally use a DVD+R....but I've also used CD-RW's with success also. The X-Box is really picky about the media used, you might have to experiment to get one that works.
7th Put the Slayer's Auto Install disk into the drive and re-boot.
8th Select the proper install that you need. (Off the top of my head you will want the Full Reformat+Full install for Large drives. You will also want to make sure that you enable the "G" Drive becuse of your drive's size).
9th Reboot and take out your Auto Installer and you shold be all set.

Post again and let me know how everything went. :comp:

Duke of Ice, thanks for the response. The current bios i am using, already has LBA48 for 137G+ support (personally customized). That's not a problem. The simple problem, was that the chip would not boot the xbox up with the custom bios (flashed to bank one, set to "eject"). It turned out to be a simple problem. My friend (who i was walking through the process with on MSN Messenger,) had forgotten to put in the screw which grounded the chip, and was therefore not booting the custom bios. It's fixed now. thanks anwyay though wink.gif
