I know what you mean. Today is the final test for this X-Chip, if its defective (Which I think it is) then I'll have to do the return game as well.

Oh well, I've almost got every file listed in #xbins, so theres the upside.

Are you sure that the solderless aapter is making good contact on the LPC of the X-Box.

This happeds alot with 1.0 boards. You think that there is conttact but 1 pin is not making contact and the chip fails to boot. You also state that you can read and write to chip so I don't think its a chip issue unless for the female header part in the X-chip. You can test this part with a OHM meter. You can insert a small wire like a 30 gauge wire in one the holes of the female heare and test the other end where it's soldered to the the X-chip.

It also can be a stuck pogo-pin. I have seen this to be the case in many solder-less installs. Have you tried to remove the solder-less adapter and inspect for any pogo pins that are stuck inside the adapter. If all fails you can always send back in the chip for a replacement.

Make sure to have the power unpluged from you X-Box while doing this, or bad things happen!!!
Now take the nickle and GENTLY rock it back and forth.

What bad things happen if the power cord is plugged in? huh.gif

no clue what bad things could happen. im not willing to try. i sure hope you didnt.

I didnt have a nickle handy so i used a penny. worked great. also make sure the sodderless adapter is secure, and that it is flat on the motherboard (not propped up at an angle). i used it on my 1.0 board to replace an older chip that had been soldered on. i had no problems. only issue was i had to push it a little into place after tightening the screw some

The solderless adaptor connects to a 3.5V and a 5V power source (amonst other things), of the LPC. If the X-Box is powered on, or there is current running to the mobo, and you happen to bridge the current between the two power sources, well thats bad. I'm not 100% certain about what everyhole in the LPC does, (Well not 50% for that matter) but in theory, if you have current at one point, and your nickle then bridges that current to the other points on the solderless adaptor, then you are sending that same current into places that aren't susspto see any current. So you could see the kinds of damage this could cause (Fried Mobo).
