In theory no data needed unless you ever wanted to restore original harddrive ( which is dead now ) To send teh drive away to get data off it from a recovery service woudl cost anywhere from $400 USD up. Sorry its not worth it, unless you had secrete files on it!

The modded harddrive will be able to be locked and unlocked through Evox 1.2 bios and you should have no issues what soever.
