Evox X-chip bios 1.2 corrects alot of bugs with version 1.1 and adds a few extra features as well. Always best to use latest bios.

ok, 1.2 did not work, same prob. when i did Evox originally i used the evox 1.1 Bios (not OS or dashboard or whatever) and i tried the full.bin with M8_16.bin in one of the banks and set as boot.

so still no dice.. am i going to have to unsolder it with desoldering ribbon and start over?

one more thing, does it matter that i used 30 gauge wire for the power line going to the xchip as well as the rest of my solders? (or does the power line have to be 24 gauge or something a little bigger?)

30 guage should be OK, but since drawing power I personally like dropping gauge to help pull pure power( just like a car amp )

For 1.6 Xbox soldering jobs I would use 30 gauge for all points except the 5 volt point. For that point I would use either 22 or 24 gauge. 30 gauge is not thick enough for the 5 volt current. You can use braided wire as it's easier to work with the solid wire at that thinkness.

If you look at the Xbox 5 volt wire (red) they use 18 gauge to power up the hard disk.
Since you are only powering up a X-chip using 22 or 24 is more than enough.
30 gauge is pushing it for 5 volts.

30 gauge not thick enough for 5V, what a crock, why you think they use 28-30 gauge for 9V batteries connectors.
