« Reply #1 on: October 11, 2004, 11:27:00 AM »

Ok ive got config magic final to work but im still blind and it hasnt been able to complete the eeprom update , im figuring cos the hard drive is still locked as the likely reason and as i cannot see any video im unable to see the menu choices available, if any one out there has config magic on a boot disk for there box could they tell me what buttons after config magic starts i should choose to unlock the harddrive like i know to get to the menu i press start but thats all as i cant see the menu i cant choose unlock hard drive, i know its going to the menu cos the orange dvd light is turning green when i press start, i need to know what combination to use to unlock the drive so i can then update the eeprom
Thanking you in advance

Thanks for the reply Grilf
I edited the eeprom from within the settings menu of 1.1 and saved and exit this in turn changed the eeprom on the xchip  i did try holding the button down on the usb adaptor as my first alternative before doing anything else, i spose i overlooked saying that because it was so basic a thing to do. when that didnt work i searched a lot of forums for answers, after trying the suggestions and my own ideas (which have improved my outlook on the problem) i posted as much info about what stage i was up to on this forum

Well if anyone out there can help with the button sequence to unlock the hard drive using config magic on cd i could most likely beat this problem , cos soon as i have a video signal i can use ill be able to see what is going on as it now reads the cd and starts config magic but i still cant see the video cos i cant unlock the hard drive to do a blind eeprom restore , i have good working eeprom in the /DATA folder on the configmagic cd and am ready to rock and roll
any one with the button sequence please ?

It is not so technical, but you need to know how to hex edit files.

If you make an image (4MB) of your xchip, you will find that the eeprom is stored at location d0000 in the flash file.

You need to add a 16 byte header, and patch your eeprom from Evox Backup at that address.
