I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you're supposed to load m8 raw.  Here's how I did it:

If you want to be able to switch BIOSES by pressing diff buttons, you need the X-Chip BIOS anyway... load THAT raw.

Then after writing changes and stuff, (I'd recommend closing X-Control) reopen X-Control, read, then find a small bank (one that takes a quarter of a line).  Right click it, hit load, choose your M8, right click on it again, assign it whatever button you want, then hit WRITE CHANGES in the menu.

M8 is a BIOS not a OS, the load raw feature allows you to rewrite all contents of the 4 MB flash thus restoring it to factory state or installing the Evox OS on the X-Chip.

If you write a BIOS with the laod raw, you will run into a corrupted write and the X-Chip will frag.  Simple perform a Load RAw and load the full.bin to restore chip to factory shipped state.  Then do a s mentioned about to load your M8 bios, but i suggets using EVOX 1.1 instead, alot of the potential of the X-Chip can be used with this OS.

Yeah, by and large I really dig the 1.1 BIOS... I just wish they'd add a couple things to it and it'd be perfect wink.gif  hehe

At least they showing they are doing updates, as within 2 months had a new version out with bug fixes and a few new toys tongue.gif

Agreed... I have no idea where a good spot for that would be however... I'd LOVE to be able to comment on the dev's forum, for example.

I have a problem that somewhat relates to this. I open the full.bin in x-control and flash onto my modchip. But when the xbox boots i get the normal xbox power on screen. Even when i add other bios to the diff banks such as m8. I get no change whatsoever. Any suggestions?

Are you selecting the "Write Changes" command in X-Control?  If you don't, all you're doing is playing around with what 'could be', not what is.  lol

Yeah... the way to test is to close xcontrol, reopen it, and reread the banks.  If they're all back to the way they were, you're not doing it right.

Again, realise you need to install a dashboard after flashing a new BIOS or all you'll get IS an MS Dash.

Yea i've tried the x-control read settings before and it is indeed flashing onto the chip. I've flashed several different bios. THe cromwell should bring a menu up before the dashboard loads allowing you to boot off a cd if you chose. Evox is supposed to have a pink evox triangle in the upper left before the dashboard loads. I see none of that.

Also the red led is lit on the chip showing that it is connected properly but it just wont' boot off the mod chips bios.

Well, all I can tell you is what I did.... once you plug it all in and read the chip, do a load raw and load the Evox 1.1 Xchip BIOS (either the normal or the 16 one if you have a 1.6 xbox).

Then at that point I loaded the two customized m8's I wanted to... set up the buttons however you like... remember to use 'write changes' after each step.

That's how I did it and it worked for me - I never even SAW the Cromwell BIOS.
