X Chip Who Do U Turn It Off
« on: September 04, 2004, 12:44:00 PM »

If you want to use X-box Live, turn the X-box on by using the eject button. You can be sure it is not on if you do not see the Pink Evox triangle in the upper left corner.
It is also a good to turn off the auto login in the MSdash settings, just incase you accidentally jump to MSdash from your "other" dashboard while chip is on.

Maybe someone can answer my question. What is that black button near the USB connector for?

To disable chip simply press the eject button apon startup this will disable the X-chip . If you remapped the Xbox bios to another button then reboot the Xbox while holding that button down.

I've had the x-chip installed going on two months now.  It seems to be working fine.  The only problem that I have had is with the powering with the eject button "trick".  It doesn't matter which button I choose to power the xbox on it always shows the evox logo at the top left of the screen.  I used the new 1.6 reference guide on eb2k's website but still no luck.  I have also tried the x-control method of doing this (by mapping a certain button to the particular bios) but that doesn't seem to work as well.  Any help you guys can give is very much appreciated.

It sounds like your box is a version 1.6.  You need to use the alternate 5 volts point (sorry can't remeber where it is) to use the buttons and eject buttons.  The reason for this is (I think) if you use the 5 volts off of the LPC header the chip never gets powered off so you can't restart the chip in a different mode.  If you wan't to try starting it in a different mode then unplug your xbox, plug it back in then when you boot press your button but then the x chip is stuck in that mode intill it is turned off again by unplugging.  A much better way is to use the alternate 5 volt that turns off the x chip when the xbox is off.

Ok, here is my problem:

I might just be banned and not know it.  I mean seriously - how do you know if you are banned or not?  I mean it's not like when you try to get on Live your Xbox says "you are banned".

I installed the X-Chip.  Then I installed a 120 GB Maxtor.  I used the Avalaunch.net installer, so Avalaunch is my dashboard.

The Bios I am using for the X-Chip is the xchip_v1.1.bin, which was pretty much made exactly for this chip.

Now when I use the eject button the chip is not on, and I know this, because my Xbox has been completely taken apart and sitting in my living room like this for four days as I've been messing around, so I can see that the light on the X-Chip is not on.  So the MSDash boots up, but I can not get on Live.  I get the list of things that could be wrong with my connection.  But see here is the weird part, if you hit B and go back and hit Y you can see the stats for the network card and my UL and DL are both 0, so the network card isn't even trying to connect to anything.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thank You.
