I didn't install slayers, I just have the boot disk in there. I went to the option to install evox and it said to make sure I have a backup of the C: which I don't have obviously because I can't ftp into it.  I got the internet connection working, but I will try those settings you described.

It didn't work.

btw, I know I haven't mentioned it, but thanks for all the help, I'd still be trying to get the cd-rw to work if it wasn't for you.  I've read plenty of tutorials, but i'm more of a visual learner.

Ok, lets narrow it down.

What boot disc are you using?

And does it display and IP anywhere on screen?

I'm using a maxwell disk with the slayers auto install.  The portion where it says IP it has 0.0.0.0 I went to settings and it has the same thing and then another part right below "use static IP which has an ip of 192.168.1.200

but on the main screen the ip is 0.0.0.0

By deafault the FTP should be enable, scroll through the options where you saw the IP and verify statis enabled, IP address as you stated 192.168.1.200 and FTP enabled .

If yoiu are using a router you should also be using a straight through cable and not a cross over cable.  Just checking

ok I got it to work. so now I'm copying the xbox hard drive, which seems like it's taking forever being that it's only transferring at 10 kb/s, I thought it should be much faster, maybe something isn't right.  So just to be sure, I go ahead and copy this to my hard drive.  Then install the evox auto installer and I'm good to go?

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help.  I finally got it installed and everything is working fine. I even managed to install a 120 gb hard drive.
