Installing the Xchip VIA pinheader (solder install)
Works on consoles version 1.0-1.4

Package Contents:



1. Blue USB link cable.
2. Xchip Modchip
3. USB adapter with override button.
4. (Not pictured) 2x6 Pinheader with pin 2 on row two removed.

Step one:

Take apart your Xbox.

An in-depth tutorial can be found here.

Step two:

Identify the D0 point. Solder a D0 wire.

D0 point on consoles versions 1.0-1.1



D0 Point for versions 1.2-1.4



There is also another alternative and easier to solder to point on the underside of the motherboard, it is the same for all versions of the console:



Once you have identified the D0 point you want to use, solder a piece of 30gauge AWG Kynar insulated wire to the point. If using the underside D0, run the wire to the top via one of the four empty LPC bus holes. Filled in white and shown in the above picture. If you soldered to the top D0, use some hot glue to secure your connection, use following pictures as reference. If you soldered the bottom D0, then use some electrical tape and cover up the soldering.

Step 3

Solder the pinheader.

Take your pinheader and make sure that pin 2 in row 1 is removed. If your not sure what pin to remove, use the following pictures for reference. Then insert it into the LPC bus. NOTE: On version 1.0 consoles, the holes on the LPC bus are filled with solder and the solder needs to be removed with disordering braid.



Here is what the bottom soldering of the pinheader should look like:



Step 4

Final Installation steps.

Insert the Xchip onto the pinheader as shown:



Then solder the other end of the D0 wire to the D0 VIA on the top of the Xchip PCB as shown:



Hook up your USB flashing device and your done!



Now mount your USB flashing device somewhere neat

There probably wasn't an official pin-header install guide from EB2K for the X-Chip, because they already created a pin-header guide for their previous chameleon mod-chips, which is the same EXACT installation procedure for the X-Chip (something that was pointed out on the help-forums quite a few times).... with the only difference being that there is a picture of a Chameleon, instead of a X-Chip.

Ok... maybe you should get in contact with them and ask them to remove the 1 or 2 pictures of the chameleon in the guide, so it can be transformed into a X-Chip pin-header guide .

And why is that... you really don't need to do any extra soldering unless you have one of the newer consoles (which is pretty much common knowledge) .  Proof of that, is when I unplugged my cham, and plugged in the X-Chip... without any extra soldering besides re-soldering the d0.

Okay, Need some help guys. seems to be some discrepencies in which pins to solder in. Ive read you can use the Chamelean install guide. Im wondering how accurate this post is. Im wondering which pin i have to remove before soldering. I have a v1.o xbox with the original enigmah chip installed.(plan to remove that and install the Xchip).Can someone with the exact same set-up as me and has had success in installing and running this chip, help me out here?
