How To Solder X-chip
« on: August 06, 2004, 05:48:00 PM »

It installs the same way any other pinheader modchip does, just look for a tutorial on them. It involves removing the solder from the holes in the lpc bus, putting in a header, soldering it, and soldering a d0 wire.

For ground you can use the screw hole you used for the solderless install.  This will ground it to the chasis.

With the X-chip pin header guide do I need to solder a +v5 on the r3G4 or do I even need to solder a connection for the power because the solderless adapter you never needed to using the LPC points.

Ok I've connected everything soldered everything and yet no red light. The red light will come on when I plug in the USB programmer but not without. Does this mean I soldered the pwer to the wrong r3 connector? Also do I need a bios on it in order for te red light to come on without USB programmer?? I'm so lost on this....

**Update**

I just downloaded the x-control software but it doesn't seem to show any bios currently on the chip could this be my culprit????????

X-Control will show banks and all will appear empty( Green ) this is normal.

If you did the solder install, 5V is obtained from pin #6 on LPC port.

Since using eject you are disbaling modchip, you need to figgure out why power button not wokring or use the xcontrol software and chnage the boot bank to the Eject button.

Thats the solderjob. Basically just a pinheader on the mobo and a wire from d0 on the mobo to the d0 VIA on the Xchip.

hah yup, I'm prolly going to be just going to ebgames and buying another pre-owned one and just install the chip in that one. I don't feel like ordering a power-supply online. Starting with a clean slate would prolly be better anyways cuz now I know what to do.

But if anyone has any other idea/suggestions feel free cuz I'd rather just fix it if I can since it will gie me something to do.
