Early Notes/Details on X-Chip
« Reply #15 on: March 02, 2004, 07:36:00 AM »

We work with a manufacture the will produce the X-Chip.

The Chameleon 2 name was changed to X-Chip because this is a brand new chip with more features nothing compared to the Chameleon 1.

The fun part is that people actually seem to be excited over all these new modchips.

Weird.

The only thing an Xbox modchip needs is 256kb of flash reprogrammable memory. No leds, no 1Mb, 2Mb or 8Mb memory. No external programmer connections, no external dip-switches, no "own operating system" etc.

Silly.

Bingo.  I tell people I'm gonna use a apple chip if I mod their box and they act like they are getting ripped off.  I have installed 6 or so of them without a prob.  The only chip I ever had a prob is a damn 2.3b premod that would not stop fragging or even let me program it externally.  I eventually ripped it out and installed a apple smile.gif

Hate to bash executer chips but shouldn't they have gotten rid of dip switches by now?

I hear ya,

I have had nothing but trouble from the X2.2-2.3 chips.  All the other chips work like a charm.

Why dont you elaborat a little more on the features and what makes your chip better then another chip ?

We want to know so that we can make a good informed descion.   You just can't throw vauge features and expect the scene to buy now can you ? blink.gif

You might want to ask that in the Xecuter forum.. or alternatively on www.teamxecuter.com

I am sure MS will not make the same mistake, they will definitely give Ps3 a run for it's money hence, getting a head start with games and production etc.  But, unless MS make some supermachine, I won't be buying it due to the fact we are going to spend 30 bucks on a dvd remote, 20 bucks on a possibly sucky memory card, and like 300 bucks to get the thing that's like 400 bucks to play games and watch movies.

And what is the point of thinking about hacking the xbox2, because there will be a possibilitythat there is  no h.d to load our dash onto nor will there be any place where we can hack the bios..MS will make sure of that. And with a possible non x86 architecture we are screwed. So, I think there Is a very high chance MS will be putting it out in 2005.

Back on topic, I very highly doubt we will be coming out with a bios that is larger than 1 meg, so is it not just extra space...

a recent x-s news article said that msoft will be waiting to hear what sony will be putting into the ps3 before they announce what is in the xbox2... this sounds to me like MS still doesn't even know... and im sure sony will wait to hear what xbox2 will have before they announce what the ps3 will have.. (im sure they didn't like being seen as the company with the less technologically advanced electronics... ps2:xbox) so it will go back and forth and xbox2 will come out Q3 2063... at least thats what bill gates told me on irc
