This Guide Will Help You Flash A Bios, Install Evox, And FTP With An Xbit Modchip

List of things you need:

1. Xbit.exe
If you have the newer chip you will need xbit 1.5

2. USB port and cord that came with the xbit

3. a hacked bios xecuter or evox

4.  Latest Evolution X Dashboard

4. Flashfxp (all you need is the 30 day trial found here http://flashfxp.com/download.php)

5. a hub/router/switch  or crossover cable

6. Craxtion (found here http://craxtion.com/download.html)

You will need the current version, OCX Files (Required to run Craxtion Iso),

and Runtime Files (Runtime Libs for Craxtion Iso)

7. Burning program that will burn image isos (Nero Works very well)

Step 1: Flashing The New Bios

1.   Connect the xbit to the pc using the usb mini cable that was included with the xbit.

2.   Open xbit.exe and format it. Use any configuration that you please but most bioses are either 256kb or 512kb.

3.   If your pc has problems connecting to the xbit try a different pc. There are issues with the xbit combined with certain types of pc motherboards running windows xp

4.   Write to the chip you with the bios that you obtained. Make sure to match the size of the bios to the size of bank you write it to.

5.   Verify the flash with the exact same bios that you flashed to the chip. If it says that it matched disconnect and proceed

6.   If it didn’t match try it again. If it still doesn’t work it could be a bad chip (the best way to tell is to install it and see if it boots with the bios that you flashed to it).

Step 2: Installing the Xbit

Solderless:         http://www.dms3.com/...pin_install.htm

Solder:        http://www.dms3.com/...ire_install.htm

If you had a good flash and it doesn’t boot off the mod chip you need to wiggle it around a bit till it is perfectly aligned. Very common problem is the d0 point is not aligned correctly.

Step 3: Evox

Use WinRAR to extract the .rar file to a new folder on your pc
Put a dummy file found (http://www.x-b-o-x.com/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?lid=490) in the folder that can be obtained from          the 100mb or 300mb dummy file works great
Open evox.ini and check to see that under the network section Static IP has to be set to Yes
           IP change to  192.168.0.2

           Gateway change to  192.168.0.1

Then rename the file evoxdash.xbe to default.xbe
Then open Craxtion and make sure it says creation mode in the top title bar
Click on add and find where you put evolution x dashboard folder that you extracted into.
Double click on it and click next, Hit next again and it should say all xbes are patched
Then choose create Iso
After the iso is created rename the default.xbe back to evoxdash.xbe
The iso you created will be saved in the ISOCraxtion folder called ‘RemoteX.iso’
Burn this iso using an iso burning program (Nero)  to a cd-rw. Memorex seems to be the best for this.
Step 4: FTP

Open FlashFXP and click the last button on the right site (switch to local browser) same on the left side but ‘switch to ftp browser’
press F4 to bring up site manager
click on new site and call it xbox
enter the ip address of the xbox (192.168.0.2 if you changed it like I indicated earlier)
username and password are both xbox
over in the options tab you need to click on ‘Use Passive Mode’ twice to make the box empty
Connect your crossover or hub/router/switch up with the xbox connected into the network
then you have to change the IP and Gateway of pc to:
       IP = 192.168.0.6

Subnet = 255.255.255.0 (default by Windows)

       Gateway = 192.168.0.1

Then close network properties box and back to FlashFXP
Boot the xbox off the evox boot disk and just leave it set on the evox dashboard main menu
Open site manager again and hit connect in the xbox site
It should connect and show a list of folders on the left side almost immediately
After it is connected double click on the c folder and find the evolution X folder that you created the iso with
Transfer everything in that folder except the dummy file to the c folder and disconnect
This will allow you to boot to the Evox Dash without the cd rw
Now you can obtain any app/emulator and just ftp it over to the xbox in order to install it
You can also ftp games from the dvd rom (d folder in flashfxp) to a folder on your pc.
Open craxtion and create an iso with the game that you transferred over and burn to a disk that works in your drive. You just backed up a game
