1. Evox is an application/dashboard for the xbox that gives you a few great new featues like loading programs/games though it, ftp from your pc etc, it is very handy and very customisable. It is the most common dashboard used, and i would recommend it
2. The D0 is a pin on the xbit chip, wasn't used on mine cause my xbox is new
3. Yes, test the modchip before you screw any screws back in, and when you screw the lid back on, make sure that the screw nearest the modchip isn't too tight (will knock the chip out of place, i ended up screwing the internal bios by doing this)

d0 - isn't a pin on the xbit. it's the point on the motherboard that gets pulsed (charged) when booting from the modchip.  The d0 pin on the xbit needs to make good contact with the motherboard in order to boot properly from the mod chip.

- Read the tutorials on proper install and there's an ongoing thread about getting the XBIT install right the first time.

- and thirdly - READ THE TUTORIALS - all your questions have been answered before in some form or another.

sikness,
Do not ask for binaries (evox, etc.) that is a big no no!

Read! Read! Read, "The total nOOb guide to everything" tutorial, and you shall be "school'd" on where to find and how to do.
