Xbit Pogo Pin Lpc Points Confusion...
« on: January 04, 2004, 11:18:00 AM »

I follow the step from this manual: http://www.dms3.com/...pin_install.htm to install my xbit with the pogo pin method but when i open up my xbox to look at those 15 LPC holes, all of them are cover up with solders, and my xbox hasn't ever been open before, so this can't be someone who manually solder it in...

but in this manual: http://www.dms3.com/...pin_install.htm step 3 show that the 15 lpc holes isn't cover my any solder... so, why do i do now?

do i use a knife or something, to poke a holes in those already soldered holes?

You do not need to desolder the LPC points, I didn't!  The pogopins will sit on them fine, just be sure that once the chip is screwed in to make sure that the d0 is still making a good contact.  Desoldering the LPC points would be preferable, simply because it makes for a more solid connection, but if you are not proficient in soldering or would just prefer not to desolder, it is not mandatory.

One tip though:  If you decide not to desolder, clean the LPC points with rubbing alcohol before installing the chip.
