Xbit Stealth/power Without Main Board Soldering
« Reply #45 on: November 03, 2003, 06:51:00 AM »

i used solid wire - it was what i had available.  i imagine stranded would be a disaster unless you tin the ends first.  It's been what, about 1 month since i did this install, and i've moved my xbox 15 times - never had a problem - and i LOVE enabling/disabling at the touch of the button.  the Xbit rocks! smile.gif

Just did the mod with a stranded wire, was a PITA to get into the power switch plug at first, but if you unplug the power plug, then gently pull it up until the wires go tight, then the space you need to insert the wire into greatly widens: Twist up your strands and insert. Tape up and plug back in and you're done wink.gif

You could tin your stranded wire with solder too.

Could, but twisting it gave it a much easier shape to work with smile.gif

There's an arrow poiting to pin 1.  Pin 2 is right next to it, right up against the front of the XBOX.  So if [A] is pin 1 then [F] is pin 2.

Somebody should PIN this!!

Those of you who got your xbit working should do this next.  It is really cool to enable/disable your chip with the pwr button  cool.gif

Hi Gang!
I hope this post has been useful.  I'm running into some bandwidth problems so I'll leave the photos up for another day or so, then I have to remove them - if anyone wants to upload to your site, i'd be happy to edit the first post to use your links - otherwise, off they go sad.gif
BTW - still love my xbit! smile.gif

This has been incredibly useful, especially to me who didn't want to solder to my mainboard. This topic shuld be stickied, and you should ask the XS guys if they could host the images on the main site, I'm sure they won't mind smile.gif

It comes with the xbit.  This is an alternative to the STM install proceedure posted on the xbit site, that does not require soldering to the MB.  For xbit chips only.
