Xbox Not Working Right
« on: August 23, 2004, 06:06:00 PM »

Hey,

This is somewhat common to the matrix chip since it is solderless the chip can loose contace with one or more of the traces.  Check and insure the screw is tight if that does not work then remove the chip and clean the pogo pins and the mother board with 100-91% alchohol and or a pencel eracer.  Just remember to remove the leftover rubber from the board.

ok, thanks for the help!
i tried taking out the mod chip and putting it back in...now when i turn the xbox on it has the message that it needs to be fixed with the number 16 or something in the top right of the screen.  So do i need to put the boot disk in, in order to get my xbox started again??

Well I still don't think it is working right unless you lost your dashboard somehow.  Try makeing a evox boot disk from xbins but I still don't think the bios is running.  Did you ever reanme you ms dashboard.  I think this is what the error is telling you.

Check this web page and it will give you the low down on all the error codes.

I would double and triple check the bios chip install the light should be a solid green.  If that still does not help then I guess you will need to try cleaning the motherboard lpc port.

the error 16 is a clock loop issue.   You need to boot your xbox without the modchip and the original HD (if possible) and go to the dashboard, set the clock and date.  reboot.  Shutdown and remove the original HD and install whatever you had back in there and realign the matrix mod chip.  Let me know if that is any help!

Again, error 16, clock loop isssue.  Follow instructions above.  (the bios does matter if he has an older bios that doesn't bypass the clock check!).  Reprogram the matrix with Evo M8 or X4983.xx and try to install again and make another evox boot cd.

M8 does not have the err16 fix in it.  Just the excuters 4976.02 and above have that feature installed.

Here is an uptodate list of features excludeing excuter 4981 and above since the revesions were for xbox live disable and the excuter not flashing bank 1 working.
