Chameleon On The New V1.6 Mobo

When you say "the adapter will not work" are you referring to a solderless adapter?  If so, it will definately not work.  You will have to solder in the pin header and six jumper wires.  There are all kinds of tuts for the 1.6 mobo.  Here is a link to a Xenium 1.6 install guide posted on X-S.

I hope this helps.

One thing I forgot to menntion, and this was just my experience and may not be the case in ALL 1.6 boxes, but I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO USE the M8 BIOS on the 1.6 mobo.  with the M7 or any other I just got FRAG.

Dude,

Follow my 1.6 live how to.  This tells you that the 1.6 uses lfram to boot the chip.  And you need to use m8_1.6 bios for the chip.

Inshort

Rebuild LPC and pin 7 not connected on the pin header and ground lfram after you cut the trace on the mobo.

Put the bios from your mobo on bank 4 and use the other 3 banks for newers bioses to test and what not.

If you goto the main menu check out artical "Chameleon 1.6 Lived Howto."

Hope this helps.

To my unerstanding is that v 1.6 Uses the LFRAM as the d0 but your mod chip does not utilize LFRAM since the older Xboxes did not use that to enable and disable the chip.  Newer Modchips have workarounds built in hardware but yours  doesn't so you will have to manuly do it yourself.   So this means cuting a trace.  Not so bad since the trace cut is easly reparable with a short wire and some solder.
