Matrix Pin Header
« on: March 17, 2004, 01:25:00 PM »

i have an old matrix chip and it moves often, and i aam tired of having to open my xbox and re-adjust every time it moves which is quite frequent, so i was wondering if the pin header on the matrix which is used to flash bios on to the chip, via the programmer, could be conected to the lpc , like alot of other modchips are done, like the xenium, xecuter, smartxx, chameleon.?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Well you can't use the programing port as a pinheader install.
But you could do what this guy did and install it via a pinheader
and a IDE cable.

the main point that comes unaligned with matrix is the d0, just solder a wire to the d0 (the bottom of the mobo is easiest) and you should have nomo probs

You also might want to try a little bit bigger screw, the plastic can get a bit stripped out after a while.
Try a #6 x 1/2" Sheet Metal Screw

Cool.  But mine is cooler, and CAN be used on the Matrix programming port.  Plus, can be used on ANY matrix without modifying it.  wink.gif

No, don't do that.  The header is not pin-for-pin compatible.  You would need to build an adapter like the picture above, or hardwire it like the picture further above.

just heat up the pogo pins with soldering iron on the topside, with pressure applied to the springed pin from the bottom ( becareful dont burn your finger trying to apply the pressure to the pin)  when the solder heats up the spring tention will pop that sucker right out of there and leave a nice clean hole, do this to all pogo pins. then install a female header on it and a male header in the motherboard and your done. (except you still have to solder a d0 wire now to the d0 pogo pin hole on the chip and mobo)

ive done this over and over with several solderless chips that the owners got frustrated with it misaligning.

after u solder the female socket to the modchip, and solder the d0 wire to the mobo, do u have to solder another wire to ground it?
