Flashing Red Light & Nothing On The Screen!
« on: January 24, 2004, 04:01:00 PM »

I have a newer XBOX with the Chameleon Chip.
I installed the solderless adapter.
I got the wire in D0!
Installed the chip in its default setting.
Fired up the XBOX and got nothing on the screen & the chip flashes red.
No Blue, No Clean Linux, Nothing.
I am going CRAZY! Does anyone know what I am doing wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance!

If you have a newer version Xbox 1.4 or 1.5 they will not show anything on the screen.  You will have to blind flash the BIOS with a new one.  See the tutorial pinned at the top of this forum.  Chameleon installed now what?  Please post your results.

The new Chameleons only have a Red LED.  Sounds like your chip is behaving correctly and you are ready to flash.

Did you follow the tutorial- Chameleon Installed Now What?  It's posted at the top of this forum.  It explains how to make a CD to flash the BIOS.

What do you mean D0 grounded out?  What causes this?  Is the chip fried?

It can't make things any worse.  What BIOS are you trying to flash anyways.

Yes you can flash the same bank.  If the Evox doesn't work, try xecuter BIOS.  Use 4981.  You can always change back to Evox later.  If you are wanting to use the Evox dashboard, Xecuter also works.  I have been using Xecuter and never had a problem with flashing the same bank.  I have updated my BIOS about 5 times on the same bank.

You have to follow the tututorial and put the dummy file AAAA.AAA and rename the 4981 BIOS to LINUXBIOS.BIN  This should be the exact same way when you tried to flash with Evox M7.  This is the method you used, right?

What is the difference between a fast flashing red & a slow flashing red?
I have an older XBOX with an earlier version of the chameleon aswell as the ones I mentioned earlier. I did not have this much trouble first time around.
I put the new chameleon in my previously modded XBOX and I do get the blue Linux Screen with the v2.27 Bios. I noticed that in this one the chip flashes faster then stops.
It tells me to put in a disc. So I did. then it spits it out.
I created a CD-RW w/ nero with the renamed file & a 100+MB Dummy.

Hammerhead listen up

If you have read any of the tutorials out there they all say that you must wait EXACTLY let me repeat EXACTLY 2 minutes before you can put in the BIOS disk that you created, REGARDLESS whether it has opened the CD TRAY or not. When I did it, it opened my tray 30 seconds into the 2 minutes and I tried it after 30 seconds, didnt work. I then waited EXACTLY 2 minutes, dont ask me why thats just what you have to do. Then I stuck it in there and 15 seconds later it was flashed. That simple. Now DO IT!

ordered the programmer, should be coming this week.  I spoke to tech support and it seems that the recent batch of chameleons only have bank 0 flashed with cromwell, all the others are blank!
