QUOTE (spare72 @ Jan 7 2004, 04:11 PM)
I had some problems but not many

I download the directions provided and thought I had to desolder the LPC points (Which I did) and installed the brass things.   After I was all set up I put the chip in and the LED did not light up leading me to think the chip was bad.  I called EB2K (Since I am in computer support) I told him what I did and then asked "Will the LED light come on when the ship has power?" He freaked out and said "WHY DID YOU DESOLDER, YOU HAVE THE SOLDERLESS ADAPTER, did you not read the directions?" I informed yes and thats where I saw the desoldering thing but had figured out during the install that I did not have to desolder.  I was told I must have burned a trace while doing my desoldering which made sense to me because I am an idiot.  I went and check all the traces with a multimeter and a magnifying glass.  No issues.

I flashed the chip with a matrix programmer (When are you getting those again?) and when I scanned the blue LED blinked so once again I assuemd it was me.  I installed a BIOS with a colored Xbox screen and found that the chip was working it was just the LED light was not coming on when I powered up.

I think the only thing negative I would have to say is

Customer Serivce and Install instructions!  The guy made me feel like an idiot and if the instructions were clear I would not have even desoldered the points.  Before you say anything I have seen at least two people thought the same as me with the solder points.  End result was I was able to work throught my problems with this site!!  Had xbox-scene not been here I would have had a 40 dollar piece of sand with a picture of a lizard on it.

Other than that my order was on-time and I was happy with my transaction.  Would I buy from EB2k again?  Yes!!

your problem was your chip was unflashed.

the led will flash only if Bios ins installed..

but i'm sure I am wrong, EB2k flash all chip and test them before sending  rolleyes.gif

The led isn't supported by the X2 or EvoX bios.. you can add a line in evox.ini (ChameleonLed =5) so it can work

if the led don't flash when you first install the chip, the chip isn't powered, or the bios isn't there (will frag also)

smile.gif .  Its just good to have something to let you know that the chip is working.  But thanks for that tidbit of info.  I might try that in my Evox.ini next time I have my box apart just to see if I can get it working.  Tonight I am moving onto emulators smile.gif

Easybuy may not be the best but they do have a quality product that is pretty easy to install and maintain.  I do not know a whole lot about MOD chips but I do know that the Cam with soderless adapter is simple to install.  I think a monkey could do it.  The hard part is sifting through all the information on this site and through the instructions to get the answer you need to solve your problems, especially for Newbies who know nothing about how this all works.   smile.gif  Now that I have this all figured out I could stop coming here but I want to help people.  This site gave me lots of info and I want to help return the knowledge  smile.gif

Vric I'll have the staff look into the CC section on help forums and make sure that those posts get answered.

As for the UK orders.

Last batch of chips sent to the UK were all from the tested batch to minimize returns.

I ordered from eb2k a good while back, before they included the pin caps. Mine was shipped promply but did not work due to the fact that the pogo pins didn't fit the LPC holes correctly. I sent an email and they replyed in two hours that they would ship me the caps free of charge. I also received them quickly and everything has worked perfectly since...

So not everyone has a bad experance with eb2k.

When are you going to get more Chameleon chips in stock?

More importantly, when are you getting programmers again??  I would like to buy a Matrix programmer but I have not seen them in a while.
