I HAD 2 OUT OF 3 THAT MISSED THE CHECK AND BIOS FLASH
i guess you think everyone else couldn't have got a non flashed chip since joe blow says he did flash it in a factory.

The last batch of the Chamelons we shipped were all pre-flashed with Cromwell 2.27.

We have asked the programming house to verify that all chips are programmed correctly before it is sent out to manufacturing.

Since we have tested all chips before we ship our return rate is very low. However if you think you do have a bad chip you can always fill in a RMA and we will exchange you the chip for another one.

I have just received my chameleon modchip today via Mod Console. To my dissappointment, I found out that it was a EB2K version. It had Cromwell 2.27 lasered onto the memory IC.

However, when I booted in mode 4, I was able to get the X xbox logo in red / yellow / blue and someother colour that I can't remember. Anyway - all of these boot into my exisiting Evox dashboard and don't give me an option to flash even with a CD containing linuxbio.bin.

Another thing is that the LED does not flash at all - except for a tiny flash at startup / shutdown!

What the **** is going on?!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Gaz

WOW, they actually sent you a chip!? I sent my two non-working chips back and they were recieved by EB2k 8 days ago (mere 3 days after I sent them) now (thank you delivery confirmation). Of course EB2k wont respond to any of my emails and no sign of my new chips.

I expect a little turn around time but it take 3 days or less for the shipping, it didnt come today so the earlist would be 9 days, that leaves them 6 days for turn around. And I doubt I get it tomorrow.

Lesson DONT BUY FROM EASYBUY2000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we did not care about our customers then why do we offer to exchange any of our products with no questions asked.

Like I have said before we are trying to minimize the returns by testing all the chips we ship to our customers..

So far from the last batch we have shipped returns have been very little.

And what would you suggest for those who have bought from UK distributers who are obviously falling into the same "traps" as the end users in the USA? We could try sending the product back, but at the end of the day - their whole stock will be similar!

I don't want an apology or an excuse...I don't even mind using a "Fake" chip...I want to be able to flash the mod chip and use it as advertised...and so far - I cannot.

Why go to the bother of laser etching CROMWELL 2.27 onto a chip if it isn't even loaded with that Bios?

Anyway - Like I say, I don't want excuses - just a solution...Is that possible?

Thankyou,
Gaz

if you answer your RMA request as fast as Email support, then I know why you have really low return on the last batch....

We are only testing the Chameleons that we ship. Every Chameleon is tested in a Xbox if test passes it's given over to shipping if test fails it's sent back to manufacture.

If you are a whole seller then those chips are not tested and sent in bulk (first shipment).  We advise every whole seller to test each chip before they send them out to their clients.

If any are defective we then send all replacements from the batches that are tested.

I bought one singular chip

As I have stated before we don't program the flash chips or laser mark them it is out sourced for that. We have asked the program house to make sure that each chip is verified after the write process Just to make sure that each chip is fully flashed with the Cromwell 2.27 bios.

I had some problems but not many

I download the directions provided and thought I had to desolder the LPC points (Which I did) and installed the brass things.   After I was all set up I put the chip in and the LED did not light up leading me to think the chip was bad.  I called EB2K (Since I am in computer support) I told him what I did and then asked "Will the LED light come on when the ship has power?" He freaked out and said "WHY DID YOU DESOLDER, YOU HAVE THE SOLDERLESS ADAPTER, did you not read the directions?" I informed yes and thats where I saw the desoldering thing but had figured out during the install that I did not have to desolder.  I was told I must have burned a trace while doing my desoldering which made sense to me because I am an idiot.  I went and check all the traces with a multimeter and a magnifying glass.  No issues.

I flashed the chip with a matrix programmer (When are you getting those again?) and when I scanned the blue LED blinked so once again I assuemd it was me.  I installed a BIOS with a colored Xbox screen and found that the chip was working it was just the LED light was not coming on when I powered up.

I think the only thing negative I would have to say is

Customer Serivce and Install instructions!  The guy made me feel like an idiot and if the instructions were clear I would not have even desoldered the points.  Before you say anything I have seen at least two people thought the same as me with the solder points.  End result was I was able to work throught my problems with this site!!  Had xbox-scene not been here I would have had a 40 dollar piece of sand with a picture of a lizard on it.

Other than that my order was on-time and I was happy with my transaction.  Would I buy from EB2k again?  Yes!!
