ok... the reason you have a red LED is becuz that comes stock on a cromwell 2.27...

also, what dvd-drive do you have?  if it's a thomson, i can assure you theres 1, maybe two types of cd-rw's that are flawless.   momorex WONT work... dont even waste your time... im not sure about maxell, but i know TDK works great in mine... and sony is very iffy... so if you can get your hands on some TDKs... use those

otherwise... get DVD-R's... they work also

since your screen says "waiting for drive" it leads me to believe you're using memorex in a thomson, but thats just a guess... let me know

X-S Expert --- i went to 1.8 just to see if i could change it to some other bios (cuz i was having problems with what i thought was just the 2.27 itself)

X-S Member --- i do have a thomson and i found out memorex doesnt work haha but i bought sony and thats what worked when i put the 1.8 bios on.

How do i play backups though?  do i have to go back to the 2.27?  do i have to load something else on to my xbox??

I downloaded Slayers because someone recommended it to me, burnt it as instructed by the manual, but like everything else, the Cromwell 1.8 keeps looking for a "linuxboot.cfg".  What do i do??

you need to flash the bios BEFORE using Slayer

Evolution X and EvoX are 2 thing.. EvoX is a bios (current version M7) and EvolutionX is the dashboard

you need to flash your chip BEFORE installing a dashboard.

fallow the instruction to burn the Bios CD (do a search) if it don'T work, you probably have a thomson drive. you will need to try many cd-rw before finding one tha work (if any) or use a DVD-R/RW
