As long as the chip you are using is compatible with the version of XBox you are moving it to, you will be fine.

I just did the exact same thing with 5 differnt XBoxes (V1.0-V1.4)

Yes, when a chip is flashed it keeps it on memory on the chip. Even if you move the chip it remains in its memory. As he said, as long as it is compatible then yes. THe chip should have the same bios and boot correctly.
