Not sure who you got your chip from. But...

Have you already flashed your chip via an external programmer?  If so, the light on the chip won't go on.

Also, depending on how the BIOS is configured, it may very well go to the XBoxdash first.  Did you use a colored BIOS?  If not, I'd recommend reflashing with one.  Makes life much easier.

its an easybuy chip bc the led is red when in my programmer.  I will try the coloured bios but does this matter?

it just matters from the standpoint it tells you if it is aligned correctly.

If you have everything setup as it should be, the X at boot up will be come color other than what you are used to.

And, are you sure it programmed correctly with the external programmer?

i tried the 4977 blue but nothing, and it flashs fine with programmer,  i heard only certin bios's work with v1.4 and 1.5 mobos.  So what do i do to tell if its align correct?  Coloured bios, so would screen changes? The evox screen (how would that help)?

the led light is software controlled so unless you have evolutionx dashboard then that light will never come on, with the exception of cromwell bios. i would flash one of the banks with cromwell then boot that bank and if the light comes on but you get a black screen then the chip is installed correctly. if MS dash boots when booting cromwell bank then your D0 point is not properly connected.

scrape the D0 hole a little bit with an exacto knife or attach a wire on the alternative D0 on the bottom of the motherboard (which is easy to do).
