Matrix Flash Problem

Actually I have read where this is an issue with your LPT port.  You might try a different computer, or changing your PC bios LPT1 port to EPP  etc...fooling around with it to see if will work.

Let me know what worked if you meet with success.

I tried ECP, EPP and bi-directional mode, but it still not work.
The program still shows "Unknown Flash!".

So it is not flashing the chip at all?  Or is it getting to the verify point?

Also, have you tried installing the chip into your box to see if it will boot?

The xodus flash software "read"  function was worked good.
These information were read from my matrix chip:

Bios Name: Unknown
Flash: No
Status: Idle
MD5: 09a1d434dbd7197e7c3af8a7c28ca38b

After i load new bios(EvoxM7.bin), I press "write" to flash my chip, and then it show "Unknown  Flash!".

Unfortunately, it DOES sound like bad memory.  Try exchanging the chip.

I'm not feeling so good all of a sudden. I programmed my Chameleon and it says the same thing, take a look.  I haven't installed my chip yet so I don't know if it works;( I flashed it with a modified version of X2 4977. I thought that it saying "unknown" is no big deal. Anyways, how is the program supposed to know which bios you flashed it with? Does anybody know if the unknown flash is ok?

This reminds me of my matrix long ago when I first installed it. I thought I had a bad chip too but funny thing is I had my friend pinch the programmer and the chip together for "snugs sake" hhehe  while I flashed - and it worked. JD is also right - on some computers it simply wont go ( Did another xbox at my friends house and 2 of the computers did not work for me but the last computer in the house we tried it and it worked. Try those both to see if they work and let me know. I would feel really happy if it does.... less stress for you.

If it flashes fine but reades unknown its ok. He was getting an ERROR MSG that said "unknown flash" - thats bad. So you are OK, your chip flashed fine, XP.exe just doesnt know that the name of the bios is based on the MD5 hash.

True...if it flashes then it should be fine.  If it refuses to flash, you got a problem.

Hey guys,

I found a unusual resistance conponent on my Matrix pcb.
A resisteance(R1) that coded 103, only soldered one terminal on pcb, and another terminal was toward up and not soldered on pcb.
Is this normal?

Please help me by checking your Matrix pcb.
If you have same R1 conponent which like mine, and your chip can flash by winLPC, wmilk or XP.exe, please let me know.

Otherwise, my Matrix chip can realy call a defective chip.

Thank guys!!
