It requires you to solder two points.

If you don't have to solder it IS a 1.4.

JD,
Is there an install guide that takes into account the 1.5 Xbox detailing where exactly I need to solder?

Thanks

I am working on it as we speak.  But the long and short of it is this:

24 gauge wire no longer than 3.5cm.

Solder one end to metal part of the screw hole where the solderless adapter goes in. (You may need to melt out a section of the adapter for it to screw on completely unless you choose to do a pin header install.)

Then solder the other end to "quicksolder" point closest to the pin header input on the Chameleon.  When I have pics, I will post them.

Interestingly I always pre-flash my chameleons (1.3's) in another xbox as they cant be flashed in the 1.5 version xbox. However once flashed, they work perfectly with all the info that JD has covered on this topic.

To be honest I am unsure as to whether this is the case with the 1.8 chameleons. But thought you might like the headsup  wink.gif

Cheers

QUOTE (chameleonindabox @ Dec 12 2003, 11:23 AM)
I have a 1.0 box and he has a 1.5 box.  We couldn't flash the chip on a 1.5 without soldering so he put his chip in my 1.0 box and flashed it and put it back.  It worked perfectly.  If you have access to a 1.3 or lower xbox, you can install the chip there, flash it and take it out and put it into your 1.5 box.  Once flashed, you don't have to solder any points on the 1.5 box.

can anybody confirm this? so basically just install on a <1.3, flash the chip, and install on 1.5? no soldering whatsoever?

That only works with a 1.4 box.  The 1.5 DOES need the extra ground wire soldered.  And yes, I have tried this and verified it to be fact.

Hello

Well I don't want to counter JD but the 1.5 box i have was manufactured on August 28, 2003 and is a holiday box with the starwars and tetris.  If this is a 1.4 and not a 1.5 please correct me if i'm wrong.  But well basically, I flashed the chip on my 1.0 box (with Evox M7 if that helps).  Then I took it out and I installed it on my friends 1.5 box with the solderless adaptor and I didnt solder any wires.  It worked perfectly.  Hope this helps.

I have fitted 3 chamelons to one V1.0 box and 2 V1.5 boxes. The V1.0 need no 3.3v or ground wires connected but the the 1.5 boxes need the additional points soldered. My Q is that Can I flash the bios in a V1.5 box with these additional points (point 9 for 3.3V and point2 for earth ) connected ?

I bought the holiday bundle also but I didn't have to do any soldiering at all.  According to the guide, I have a 1.5 xbox but JD says that isn't the case and he knows his shit pretty well.  I'd just follow JD's advice.  He is TheMan.
