ok i see that you are new well i will give some help and to get to know more about your xbox and what can you do with it you must read the tutorial.
I don't know if you can play games without flashing the chip but you can test it out. If it does not work then flash it with a bios like 4977 or 4979 which ever you would like to flash it with. Find a color bios so that you can tell the difference between them. I would suggest you to use evox to it is a nice dashboard. and chameleon does not have a switch to turn it off, if you want to turn it off you must solder a switch to it or use software control if you are going to use the solderless adapter. You must transfer evox files to your HDD first then download the ini file i have in my signature and overwrite the ini file for evox and this will allow you to turn off the chip temporarly and allows you to flash the other banks if you want to and switch to a bank temporarly to. This only disable the chip temporarly if you want to play live with your xbox.
