Matrix Went Dead (3xboot, Red/green)
« Reply #15 on: December 06, 2003, 03:56:00 PM »

Hi, I'll double check my xbox, but I believe it is a v1.0.
I did use the mode-1 to test the matrix contact, when I initially installed it.
But now, I've been trying for ages, and still can't get a green LED on test mode.

When I flashed the Matrix (after the Xbox died), I did verify it and it is okay.
I did use a new 9V battery as well.

Regarding the HD, I've put in a 40G and it was working for the past 10 months.
I'll try to find my orginal xbox HD and test it again.

Actually, do you need to connect the IDE-cable in order to boot the xbox?
This is because, right now I've NO-Eject.  I can't insert a disc to boot.
However, if I disconnect the cable, I can Eject the tray, but of coz, can't boot with any cd-rw.

Thanks for all the help, keep them coming.  I'll need all that I can get
It has been a terrible weekend  unsure.gif
Still can't believe I used no more than 5-10 minutes to install this chip, but now I'm spending days to fix my xbox  sad.gif

I've plugged in the original HD, but the conditions do not change sad.gif

edit: for some reason, I logged in as my original-user that I created last year, when I first got the xbox... from now on I'll use my new username to post msg.

Hi Dankbud, I will try re-allignment again.
Just one quick question, if the problem is only becoz of alignment (which I trully hope it is), I just wonder why my xbox doesn't even boot without the matrix installed...

Do you think I can still use my xbox w/o a mod chip?

Thanks

I have a Matrix + v1.0 Xbox too. I get exactly the same problem. You can come back to the box (without moving it) and you just get the green/red flashing prob. I have to give it a wack sometimes 3 or 4 times before it will start working. Initially, of course, we assumed it was become unaligned somehow - so we now have it screwed in from underneath the mothboard with a nut - there is NO way this baby is moving. However we still occasionly get the problem and it's a damn pain - we just can't work out what the problem is.

I've the evox dashboard installed last year.  My HD is unlocked and has been working for almost 11 months.

I'm now carefully checking the board, but still can't see any bad contacts/trace...

its the ones you can't see that get you every time. you must use a continuity test from a multimeter.

found a way to get round the problem!

When u get the problem (as in turns off and on 2 or 3 times, then flashes red/green), ALL u need to do is this:

You know you will have a problem when u power the box on - and it turns off (you know it will turn on again any second) - as it is off, lift the box up and give it a bit of a smack on the left hand side - even lift it up and hit the floor with slight force (sounds mad, but its ok) - then as it turns on again, the box will boot up as normal!!

Give it a try - see if it works for you guys!
