ARE YOU HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON or HOLDING THE EJECT BUTTON.. OR HOLDING BOTH POWER AND EJECT for 3 Seconds when tring to boot.

Is the MODCHIP in MODE 4.. ONLY in MODE 4 (ON, ON< OFF, OFF) with the MOD work with the P&E wires.

I don't think you can fry your chip unless you specifically hooked up something incorrectly.  You may wish to turn dip 4 to ON and see of you can get the Chameleon to flash blue.  If it does, you are on track and your BIOS might have just gotten fried.

Dip 4 on is still Mode 1, but now you will boot into Bank 1.  This should still have the Cromwell BIOS in it.  If you screwed your BIOS in Bank 0, this is the best way to tell!

You have either shorted something or your adapter is not making good connection with the MOBO.  Are you sure you had everything hooked up correctly?

Having it in mode 4 is not the issue.  If you truly have shorted something, it would have been due to two wires touching, or connected to the wrong wires, etc.  That is all I can figure.

Make sure that no wires are touching, and you have closed off all open splices with electrical tape.

well the 2 p & e wires could have touched each other while i was installing them....so that is a possibility....i have a new one on the way.....but i got a question....do i have to use the wire taps or can i just strip the ends and strip the wires in the middle and attatch them that way and wrap them with electrical tape....and i will be careful not to let anything touch each other...would that work? or do i have to use the wire taps?

I recommend the wire taps.  The only problem I see with electrical tape is that your Xbox gets pretty warm inside, and that tape is not going to be enough to hold wires together.
