from my understandin you get the linux screen on your television ok
Once you see that screen don't browse anything just push the A button and insert your bios CD. The cd you created that has the bios on it.  Well close the tray and it should configure flash you chip with the bios you wanted. The linux crownwell will not play back up games so you have to flash the chip with another bios. if you are using the solderless adapter then it will flash bank 1 by default and you are set
i presume you are using mode 1 well you can use the software to control the chip and it is awesome i have well setup for mine. any help just drop a line.
