Mines left on Write mode, and have had no problems at all. Also it flashes ALOT faster on the Xbox than it does through the PC...

Mine also is left in mode 4. I found it works better that way for some strange reason. Now I have mine soldered in. I havent had to reflash yet so time will tell.

Everytime my kids moved it the Matrix came unaligned. I got tired of taking it apart to fix it.

You traded your kids in for a color changing iguanna?  That's cold blooded... but  a good idea.

when I had a matrix chip, I removed the pogo pin for the D0 point with plyers.  then I soldered a 4 inch length of wire(something like 26 gage)  and put the wire through the d0 point and soldered just a little on d0.  Then put a piece of electric tape over d0 to hold wire firmly.  I also used the bolt method to hold the chip on.  Never had a problem with chip moving after that.
