Chameleon 1.3 Install, Frag, Sometimes Nothing
« on: November 10, 2003, 01:16:00 PM »

Hey all,

I just got my modchip in the mail (finally!) and am having a few problems getting the blue light to flash. Here's what I did:

1) Took apart Xbox (1.0, LPC points are filled)
2) Cleaned LPC and D0 with isopropyl rubbing alcohol
3) Lined up gold wire with D0, screwed on adapter (had to use a screw from a NES because the thread was stripped, found that great little tip searching)
4) Plugged in, booted up.

Booting up I have had mixed results.
-Once, it beeped while fragging.
-Once, the Xbox powered up and booted to MSDASH
-Many times, the Xbox fragged.

Do the banks matter while installing? When I recieved the chip, bank 1 was up, and the other three were down. I left them that way.

Right now I am preparing a CD-RW with video_select_v2.iso, because I read that might work...

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks a lot in advance.

Okay, I just did the quicksolder method (gave up with solderless). Now the only thing that happens is a FRAG.

All my solderpoints look great, and the d0 seems secure. I know I didn't bump off any resistors/capacitors. The chip does not flash blue, and the Xbox FRAGs.

Is it possible that the chip is defective? Should I keep checking my work? Any ideas?

Thanks guys

Bad chip?

edit- maybe not, someone said put all the dips UP. Someone also said to try the alt d0. I will try both tomorrow.

Okay..

I reinstalled the solderless adapter to test dip combinations.

I tried almost every dip combination with a few variations of adjustment on the solderless adapter, and it only frags. frag frag frag. No blue light.
