Bios Woes...

Try switching to Bank 1 (turn dip 4 to on) and flash bank 0 from there.  If it powers down, switch dip 4 back to off.  And reboot.

Let us know what happens.

Spell it out for me.  When you boot in bank 1 does it give you the option to flash?  If so are you able to flash?  Then when you switch back to bank 0 then what/

When I switch back to bank 0, it trys to load the xbox linux clean bios 1.8, half the screen is snowy. It boots in bank 1 just fine, shuts off.

Ok this is definately a BIOS issue.  Download Cromwell 1.8 and flash it to 0 from Bank 1.  Once that is successful, make sure you download a new 4977 or M7 and flash it from bank 0.

I know this is some trial and error but is definately worth it.

Ok I loaded Cromwell from bank 1 , bank 0 boots up fine, back to original.

Now when I boot x2 4977, I get the same results as before, cromwell screen boots up and wonn't ask for cd.

I reload X2 4977 from xbins...

Man I  cann't figure this out!!!!!

I can reload the linux bios after it gets corrupted. But when I load x2 4977 I'm left with a F^%ked up linux 1.8, that I can reflash from bank 1.

This to me means my x2 4977 bios is f##ked, but I have tried a couple of version of x2 from different sources.

I do not know where to go from here...............

Forgive me, but I don't know what you mean when you say to turn Bank 0/1 on, etc. Is this something to do with the hardware on the mod, or some software configuration? If there's a tutorial or something explaining this can you please give me a link?

Thanks,

Brandon

There is a user manual for the chameleon, i got it from easybuy2000.com it's also here in tutorials. The chameleon has 4 banks of 256k, to make 1mb total memory in the bios. There are 4 dip switches on the chameleon board. Dip 4 swithched down will put you in bank 1, the linux 1.8 is loaded on all four banks, when you load a 256k bios it will load on bank 0, no matter what bank you are in.

So every time I go to load X2 4977 to bank 0, it just corrupts it(snowy screen). Then I flip dip 4, this will load the bios from bank 1. Then I reload linux 1.8 and it restores bank 0.

I cann't brake this loop.............

kitkat there are two different problems going on here.  What exactly is your problem?

Ghorticus, read my post.  I told you exactly how to switch from bank 0 to bank 1.  There is little else I could say or say differently.
