the chameleons are very nice. rustydog at get-modded.com did one for a buddy of mine and he has 4977 bios and evox d6ef bios on there. he can control them with the power and eject buttons. sweet!

I really believe it depends on what you are trying to do.

heh...  well that's really my question...  what else could I do?  What's the advantage to having both a matrix and a chameleon rather than one or the other?

The Chameleon has a 1 meg memory for flashing.  It has the ability to be turned on or off via the Power and Eject switches. It is compatable with the newest boxes.

Thanks JonDante, but again, that's not really my question.  I'm wondering what the advantage is to using a chameleon as an add-on to a matrix, rather than using a chameleon on it's own.  In other words, why have both in one Xbox, rather than just one of them?  What's the advantage to having both?

Heh...  that's what I thought too at first...  but if you read Xodus' add-on installation guide, they say you have to cut three tracks, one of which is on the bottom of the matrix!  So you'd have to remove it anyway!

I just don't get it.  Somebody must know the answer to this...  There has to be *some* reason that they made it an option...  right?

other than solderless fuctionality (easier, cheaper, and less wasteful of a matrix to buy the adapter btw), the chameleon functions the same as a standalone

it was their answer to a solderless solution before the adapter came along

Warning...new 1.3's and the LE of the Chameleon DO NOT have the Matrix connector.
