Can someone help me? I have a chameleon chip, but my xbox freezes randomly. Doesn't matter what I do. It freezes in a game, in the evox dashboard, in the MS dashboard, in hdd loader, everywhere. I doesn't freeze that often, about 2 times each day and usually the first time i start up my xbox. I've re-flashed te bios, re-installed de hdd, nothing. I had it checked by the guy that modded it, he thinks that maby my memory is busted, but that apears to be more of a guess.

Could the Hdd be broke or somthing like that? I'm really at a loss here

thanks for the info m8, gonna try a different hdd with a different instal disk, maby that wil work. Als yesterday, 1st time it freezes and i load it the xbox up again and then it worked just fine for about 9 hours strait. So that makes sence :S

also I'm gonna try a surge protector, we have a lotta power spikes in the neighberhood. Maby replacing the chip wil work?

Are there any known problems with a 80gb Western Digital hdd running at 5400 rpm?

Hi

the only advice I can offer is to try another bios for starters ... then if you are using Evo-x dash try turn off all options have it as plain as possible ..

the chip will make no diference in this case since, it is oviously functioning 100%, if you had problems at boot up, or problems flashing the chip then that would be another story .. the chip is only ever accessed then;) ( boot up and flashing )

so the chip is ruled out? Then why would it help to flash the bios? (i know this might be a dumb question, but alas i don't know the answer). But yes I tried flashing the bios. I have an option for flashing bank 0 and 2, with a bios called 256k and red. But that doesn't do the trick. I've also tried locked hdd and unlocked hdd, but it didn't work. I have a WD800EB, It's 80gb(duh) at 5400 rpm.

So the dashboard could be the problem? how can that be since the original dashboard also freezes. I've installed a 30 gb maxtor with a slayers auto installer 2.5 and it appears to be running for now. So what is propebly the problem? the software? or the hdd? note: when i modded my xbox i did it with al coppel of my friends. At the same time by the same guy. they have no problem, altough other versions and 1 kept the original hdd and 1 got a maxtor 120gb, but the software is the same.

so that leaves the bios? Or the mod guy's theory that xbox memory is broke, does anyone know if there is any truth to that?

the bios is the tricky part, i've never installed a new bios or know which one to choose

I'll think i just trade in my hdd for a maxtor, just in case. why won't it work?

so it could be a heat problem? are there known problems with different types of hdd's with this problem? How and where can i check the fan speed or turn up the fan speed? or with which program?
