can anyone help me?

Since this is your first post in this section, I really have NO IDEA what your problem is.

Have you followed my tutorial to the letter?

First question:

Are you using a CD-R or CDRW?

Are you burning the CDRW in mode 1, Joliet off, with a 100mb dummy file named aaaa.aaa and your BIOS renamed to linuxbio.bin, and burning it just as a Data CD (not an ISO or XISO) at the slowest speed?

You have totally lost me here.

Next question:  are you waiting two minutes BEFORE inserting the CD at the Cromwell prompt screen? (told you that you should spell out what you have done and where you are)

Remember, your situation isn't special.  You ARE missing a beat somewhere.  Even if it is the type of media you are using.  Just relax and retrace your steps.  For that matter what type of media are you using?  Have you tried burning to DVD-R?  What version XBox, and what type of DVD reader is in your XBox?

Tons of possibilities...

For the sake of argument do this:

Manually switch your dip switch 4 to ON.  This puts you into bank 1 mode 1.

Try flashing from there. Make sure you have a valid 4977 BIOS.

If it powers down, turn dip 4 back to off and reboot.

If it does not power down, tell me exactly what happens.

Have you tried downloading a different 4977 and reburning the CDRW?

I know it sounds tedious, but the XBox IS extremely tempermental.

Or have you burned to DVD-R?

Unless you have changed the jumpers to something weird (tho I cannot image what) you should be doing ok.  All I can figure at this point is that your Samsung is NOT reading the disc. Period.  Your chip is working fine.  Since you don't have a DVD burner, there is no way for you to tell really.

Unfortunately, unless someone else has a better idea, you might need to snag the programmer, or get a friend to burn a DVD-R for you with the 100mb dummy file and linuxbio.bin file.

It is really odd that the Samsung would not read your disc however.  For the sake of argument, have you tried a CDR?  Samsungs usually read those.  It might be worth a shot.  This is very odd.

Your XBox worked normally and read games prior to this correct?

could be the cheapo blanks i have but the cdrw i use reads fine but it just gets stuck
i will look for a person with a dvd-r and check that out...if not-i have ran out of options
thanks for your help
