Go to Xodus -->"Downloads" then Chameleon Adaptor Manual

That should help you get on the right way.
You will also need to flash ur Chip with another BIOS via dvd-rom.

  • A bright adjustable (bendable neck or something of that nature)light to see what you are doing
  • 70% or higher Isopropyl Alchohol

Thats what I have at least, most of that stuff is a result of having a ps2 and haveing to solder some unbelievely small contact points. The solderless kit only req me to have the torx, isopropyl, and a phillips screwdriver... Mind you i have a v1.1 not a 1.0. Mutimeters are the shizzle they have tons of uses around the house and for your car, but are indespensible when your xbox will not turn on or you are checking the resistance of your soldering.

    I also have

100mL of 1M HCL for cleaning copper
    antistatic pad

    good luck

    aus 10,
try going to the hardware store with one of the other screws from the mobo and find one the same width but about twice as long. pick up a multi meter while you are there. then screw that bad boy in. scratch do ever so slightly(when you see copper you are good). then check all of the pins coming out of the adapter with the multi meter, and check the wire connected to d0. if one doesn't give you a reading you have a bad contact. either reposition the adapter or check to mobo to see if your exacto knife job lifted a track.if this is the case you have a soddering job on your hands(don't worry its not really that hard with a lil practice). well, if you have more questions post um b/c the people here are rather helpful, you just have to look around(aka the search button).

    peace out

Can you explain what i'm looking for when i use my DMM?  So I'd be probing when the xbox boots?  What pins exactly do I need to get readings for and what values should i expet?

Do not I repeat DO NOT do resistance readings when you have your motherboard juiced (or voltage readings when you dont have juice)... You can do voltage readings (20V on your MM or less) with your power on to check if you have proper voltage going through (+3.3 or +5v) Polarity is important in voltage readings so know where the juice is coming from and where its going...

FOr resistance readings ("can a current pass through these two points?") make sure your system is off. Turn your MM on 2000Ohms and pick the two points you are interested in. Polarity is not important in resistance readings and you will (should get a reading between 0 and 1 telling you the amount of resistance between your two probes. You want something close to 0 for best results.

Thanks for all the advice.  My problem ended up being a contact problem. I cleaned all the points over and over and couldn't get it to work. I even tried lightly scraping them to expose a little more contact.

After fiddling around for a whole night I found a screw to tighten the solderless adapter down.  So I ended up putting in the rivets.  They really do give you great continuity.  Once screwed down the little gold wire stayed in place with d0. I booted up my XBOX and it worked like a charm.

I really do recommend anyone using the solderless adapter to use the rivets it came with.  =)

Once your chip is in, check out the tutorial in my signature for the flashing and dash instructions.
