Flashing The Chameleon Problem
« on: September 28, 2003, 02:41:00 PM »

I had the exact problem
It was a real pain to fix considering it was an error that involved a couple of clicks.

This is how I solved it:

rename bios to LINUXBIO.bin
ps: I didnt use a dummy file

Use Nero to burn a data cd.
    *In the burning settings:
           Multisession:  click "No Multisession"
           ISO: uncheck Joliet(Secondary.....)
           burn at a low speed

I used a cd rw for it but a dvd-r should work fine

let me know how this works out as i know how much of a pain this problem is

Switch your DIP's to boot at Bank 1. Then flash your BIOS with the CDRW. Maybe the BIOS in Bank 0 is defective...

Several things:

1. Are you waiting two minutes BEFORE inserting the CDRW?
2. Have you tried a DVD-R instead of a CDRW?
3. Did you burn the CDRW just as a plain data CD, Joliet off, Disc at Once, closed session, on a fresh CDRW?

Cromwell IS flashable.  It is a matter of whether or not the disc is being read by your DVD player.

My first install took about 10 tries doing different things.  Remember the XBox IS tempermental.

sad.gif sorry m8 but that is about the only area of the chip that is not tested .. the chip is tested for boot .. but not for flashing .. the way you specificaly state your problem is a fault of the chip not your method sad.gif .. appologies for the inconvinience ..

beatnutz96 .. please verify that you get to the stage where the screen specificaly states "please wait for your console to turn off " .. and then never does .. if so then you will have to RMA as well sad.gif ..

PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY IF YOU GET TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED STAGE IS YOUR CHIP POSSIBLY CONCIDERED FAULTY !
