what u described does not sound good, firstly the sound but no video worries me .. and the the Red green Red green makes things sound worse .. xbox v1.0 were troublsom from new let alone refurbished .. try check the d0 point for any physical damage ..

also have in mide that your case might be v1.0 but motherbord something else ?
