Hmmm ....

Scuttle that last thought.  Playing with the bios viewer convinced me I don't understand the boot order and I'm not going to mess with it until I do.

all you need is default .xbe and the ini file and skins file to get it to work with 3752 version just make an iso with '
simple iso then burn that to cd-rw then put it in should work
everytime

BIOS version.

The two will work together...if that was your question.

Yah, that was my question - thanks!

What happens is that xbox boots, takes a look at the disk in the drive, then boots msdash with message saying it doesn't recognize the disk.

Is there any way I can tell if the problem is the media or if its what I have burned onto the disk?

I followed the same iso creation procedure for the evo-dash cd as I did for the bios cd - exact same Nero settings (as you outlined in another thread, JD, type 1, data cd etc) - is that the right thing to be doing?

No...it is not done with the same procedure.

You need to make your dashboard disk into an XISO first.

This is done with CraXion.

Once you have created the XISO then you can burn the "image" file with Nero or whatever.

Then it will be recognized.

rofl

Nothings easy.

I burned an iso, no luck, I added a big dummy file to the iso and burned again - yay!  I got evox db up now.  I connect a network cable from the xbox to my router, expecting to be able to establish an ftp session - stuck again.

When I try to connect to the ip that my xbox is using, the ftp utility says retrieving dir info and then never comes back.  If I enter a dummy ip address, it errors out immediately, so I do think its at least talking to the xbox.  My router shows a live connection on the xbox line.

I'm looking through the tutorials on networking - the first one says I need two nic cards which makes no sense to me - I should be able to just go through my router, I think.

Any more clues would be greatly appreciated!

Well it is going a little off topic now.

I recommend searching the whole forum.

There are tons of users who go through a router (myself included).  Odds are it has something to do with your default gateway... Check all IP addresses.

Anyway do a little looking.  All will be revealed.

I followed a tutorial on getting the xbox to show up as a hard drive under my network places, and it worked fine.  The ftp problems are likely the result of the client trying to use a command that the evox dash doesn't recognize - in any case, I like the "explorer" interface better and I don't really need the ftp.

Finally up and running.

Thanks for the help!
