Fubar'd Tsop Flash... Chameleon Fix?
« on: August 22, 2003, 08:22:00 PM »

any lpc chip ( even a cheapmod) will get it working, but if you want to flash the tsop, the no-solder thingy needs to hit the can and you need to solder the a15 point ( same size as the d0 - not for the faint-of-heart)

From what I understand, the chameleon will only flash v1.0, but a fix is on the way to do more versions.

Some other post on this forum, they said I can't fix my tsop with anything other than a 29 wire mod. I accidentally flashed a 256k bios to my TSOP.

What is the purpose of the A15 point? It is NOT needed to flash the tsop. I never attached the A15 point and I was able to flash my TSOP just fine. All I did was short out the two write enable pads, booted up my xbox with the chameleon installed, I picked "switch to TSOP, disable chameleon",  (for the very first flash) I did the agent under fire 007 hack and then flashed the TSOP that way. And I have successfully reflashed the tsop multiple times (without 007 auf) by simply disabling the chameleon chip and rebooting with my onboard bios.  My question is what exactly does the A15 point do? Will it allow me to fix a bad flash if I put a dud bios on my tsop? I recently flashed my tsop with the "tsop d6.bin" bios thinking it was a D6 bios designed to go onto the tsop and when I disable the chameleon and load up the tsop all I get is a black screen with no error messages and the xbox's led just stays solid green. (no red light, frag etc.)....will I be able to fix this if I attach the A15 point?

There's more info out since this post was originated -  At this time, there is no way to fix a corrupt tsop with a chameleon - there needs to be a "special" flashing program written to do that, and the A15 point *will* need to be connected to flash the tsop without booting from it.  but at this time, there is no tool, so it can't be done that way.

However, if you've got one 256 k bank flashed, you can install switches on your tsop to disable the rest of the bios - flip the switches till it boots, then flip the switches and reflash each 256k section of the tsop - if you flash all 4 banks with the same bios, you can take the switches off and have a full 1mb tsop......

run a search in the "tsop flashing" forum for "multibios tsop"...

Too bad evolution X just doesn't add a line "flash tsop" apart from the different banks you can flash on the chameleon. I mean, you can flash separate banks of the chameleon by inserting all of the instructions in the .ini file. Shouldn't there be a set of instructions for each different TSOP (hynix etc) to put in the .ini file so you can flash it through evolution X without having to boot from the tsop itself? It seems like the solution could be as simple as a few lines of code in the evox.ini file. Maybe team xodus or the evox team can answer this one? I probably all ready know what the xodus teams response would be:  "keep in mind that we are a team focusing on HARDWARE not SOFTWARE"... and I don't know why the evox team would go out of there way to research and program for the chameleon modchip when there are so many other modchips floating around out there. So I guess we're out of luck then. I would try toying with the .ini file myself, but I only know two things about programming - jack and sh*t.  uhh.gif
