Chameleon Prob
« on: August 22, 2003, 12:46:00 PM »

hi, i just received a chameleon. with solderless adapter and the default bios wont load. i screwed the solderless adapter and inserted the adapter into the place that is wrote PIN-H. the led doesn't turn on, and the thing that appears is your xbox needs service(it is normal because evox was already installed with a matrix) i tried to program it but the device isn't detected. so i said to myself, i will burn a bios but it still doesn't recognises it... the same message appears. the evox file is evoxdash.xbe it's a v1.0, so i think the wire is not going to touck anything... i think so dry.gif

so if anyone has a suggestion to my problem, please answer back. my holes are filled and it doesnt causes a defrag. smile.gif

QUOTE (jasonkid @ Aug 22 2003, 10:46 PM)
pin-h is mean pin header which requrire soldering you need to down load the pin header install manual from easybuy2000 and if you have a programer download new software to flash the chip

if you dont know what the hell your saying, dont say it

ok yea jonathan, are your LPC holes empty or full, i think you need a new adapter, or perhaps you put the chameleon in the wrong way, KEEP IT IN PIN-H, but turn it around so that the chameleons head is facing the back of the xbox

the "little wire" *has to* touch the d0 point.   The blue led *has to* come on, if it doesn't, it won't work, period...

best bet?  Find a trash can for that "solderless adaptor" and someone to solder on you chip...  it shouldn't cost much, and it will work reliably for the life of your system...

good luck

when the chip is "installed correctly", i put the wire on the d0 and the xbox powers up and nothing happens... sometimes, it's a defrag but sometimes it's nothing. if i don't put the wire to the d0, its just like nothing would be there. blink.gif

thanks for the help!

i am also having the same problem. im sure my pins are correct, i checked the wire i put coming out of the top d0 point and the bottom point, and there is a good connection. i will probably re-do the d0, just for kicks, but AFAIK, my installation is pretty good, so i don't know why it isn't working.

i'm also wondering, has the latest batch of chameleons been defective or something? i have noticed several other threads like this..

jonathan55657

your problem seems to be with the D0 point... the little gold wire has to be positioned correclty on the D0 point . please refer to the  solderless install guide

Be very carefull when reshaping the gold wire, the point at where it is attached to the rest of the unit is very fragile .. the install guide show how you should bend it, should you need to.

let us know what happens

ok, nothing works...  sad.gif  I tighted it hard ant it is to the D0 point and it is making good contact... when I unscrew it, the LPC points are a little deeper. Maybe, I tighted it too hard

help would be g reat
