it's funny how peolpe don't reply to these kind of posting anymore. I had a similar problem. You should double check your LPC connection. And if you have a xbox 1.1, you may require to fill in the the stinking holes by soldering since it's hard to align them.

I was worried about that, but Xodus' page says you don't have to fill it the holes in the LPC

Have you tried to scrape the board? The laquer that covers all the board can prevent pogo pins from making electrical contact. You can use a blade or I have used a soldering iron just to melt this laquer. You must be careful though

I couldn't get the Chameleon solderless adapter to work with my v1.1 Xbox. I had to wiggle the modchip around just to get the blue light to flash.

If you want to check your D0 connection, just ground it and see if your Xbox reboots 3 times. If it does, that means the connection is good and wants to boot from the LPC points.

I eventually soldered by Chameleon in using the pin header method and it was painless, even with my poor soldering skills.

I'm reluctanct since I fragged a box soldering the pin header the first time I tried. My solder skills aren't that bad either, so I'm not exactly sure where I went wrong, and thus my timidness. Anyway, I bought one of these darn pogo adapters, I might as well try to make it work.

Anybody able to tell me whether or not this looks like a v1.3 or not, which could be the answer in itself since I got an early version of the chameleon. I thought LFRAME had no voltage on the v1.3, so I don't think I have one.

OK, current status:

-Just the pogo adapter in place, no Chameleon = Boots to MSDASH
-Just the pogo adapter in place, no Chameleon, grounded D0 = FRAG
-Pogo adapter with Chameleon attached = Boots to MSDASH
-Pogo adapter with Chameleon attached, grounded D0 = FRAG

WTF, shouldn't that little spring into D0 ground it? Or does the Chameleon have to be working for it to "software control" D0? When I ground the D0 spring with a wire to the chassis, then it Frags, ie. checks for the chip on the LPC and gets nothing.

Either way, it's not seeing the chip on the LPC. Sucks. I even went in and scraped all the appropriate contact points. I can see copper sticking out on the LPC holes now. This sucks. I could try filling in the LPC points, but that seems like a bad idea if I'm just gonna have to go back to using the pin header in the end.

Any other ideas, after I've scraped off laquer and check to make sure I have a good connection to D0?

Firstly, you almost certainly have a v1.2 board, so your Chameleon version should be fine.

I'm assuming that by 'grounded D0' you meant that you grounded it manually, right? Now, does the Xbox FRAG when you don't ground D0 manually, but you have the chip attached to the adaptor, with the chip enabled by the DIP switches? If not (boots MS BIOS), then the Chameleon is not grounding D0. This could be due to a poor connection of the pogo pin to LPC Pin 2. If the pogo pins are making good contact, then it's possible your Chameleon is faulty. There was a fairly high rate of failure in the early batches.

I just got my chameoleon + adapter today too.... having the exact same problems as hadrian..... just a quick stupid question.... grounding just means the lil spring thing is in the d0 right???

hadrian, it sounds like the problem is with the connection to the LPC points. I already mentioned that I couldn't get the solderless adapter to work. I actually believe the problem was not with the pogo pins but rather with the pins connecting the adapter to the Chameleon. You'll notice the pins on the adapter are round whereas the pins on the pin header are square. If I gave the Chameleon a slight push laterally (not down), I could get the blue light to flash for a bit.

I've only heard one success with the solderless adapter so far and that person had a v1.0 Xbox with filled LPC points. Good luck.

I might as well throw in my two cents. I have a chameleon / solderless adapter, and a 1.1 box (w/holes). The chip flashed fine many times (w/Matrix programmer). I dropped the adapter in the holes, put the spring in d0, and nothing, no blue light at all. If I move it around, the light will flicker, but that's it. Anyone think there is a solution to this or are we all SOL?
