My Experience With Getting My Matrix De-fragged!
« on: July 22, 2003, 01:18:00 PM »

Well I just wanted to relay my experience with my Matrix chip and Xbox that I had been having for the past few days.  I got my Matrix chip a few months ago, and installing it was a piece of cake, and with Slayer's Auto-Installer everything was going great.  After a while, and every so often, the XBOX would boot up to the MS dash.  To get it working I would just shake my XBOX a bit and it would work for a few weeks no problem until it would happen again.

Recently, though, it happened again, but it would not go away.  I could not get it to boot to evox!  Lots of times when I would boot up the xbox the light would be green, but over time it would fade to green.  I decided to try and reseat the chip.  I got it to go solid green on test mode, but if I took it off test, the xbox would turn on and off 3 times and then go black (which seems to be a common problem here on the boards).  This is what I did to finally get it working again:

1.  First I cleaned all of the contacts with rubbing alcohol on the Matrix pogo pins and on the xbox motherboard where they touch together.

2.  Next I aligned the chip and got a green light, then the crucial part was  thatI pressed down firmly (but without too much force) on the opposite side of the screw (where the pogo pins are) and screwed the screw in.  Before I was just screwing the screw in with no force on the other side, but once I pressed down, it worked!

Hopefully this will help people!!
