Err? Is this what they call the "Quick Solder Install?" Or am I looking at the wrong thing here? I don't see anything in the diagrams section about a wire install. sad.gif

Although CaliSurfer008 is an "X-S Messiah" with 3203 posts, he doesn't know what he's talking about.  There is no wire install for the Chameleon.  Quick Solder is gay and you would be better off in the long run if you just used the pinheader install.  Xodus apparently doesn't know how to write guides for their products (we're still waiting for their TSOP flash guide).  Check out the X2 install guides.  They are all the same with pinheader.

Edit:  here's a link to a pretty good guide that I think will help you - http://www.xbox-scen...n_diagrams.html

You certinly can install a chameleon via a pin header in a 1.0
Xbox, I just did it myself, lol you just need to remove the solder fromthe LPC
holes with either de soldering braid or a solder sucker. If you really want to install it with wires you could do that too, just solder them to the quick install
points on the chameleon. I high recomend taking the xtra time to remove the solder from the LPC points and use the pin header.

hehe...you got that in before me...

But yes...personally i would like to leave my solder in my LPC holes on my v1.0...and using a solder pump would just require me to go out and buy a solder pump and spend more money....and that also just provides room for more error...

I do think that the headerpin install is the best method...with the Chameleon atleast...but it all depends if you wanna pump the solder out of your LPC points

LOL, CaliSurfer008 I know how you feel, I rarely respond to an X2
question as I dont have any first hand knowledge with them.

But we are thankful for you trying to be helpful and thats what the scene
is all about in my opinion.

I didnt use a solder pump just some very cheap desoldring braid( 3-4 bucks at Radio shack) and it is very easy to do, just take your time. I think the pin header is a good idea as it makes it very easy to remove the chip in the future for upgrade or to do a hot swap of chips to flash another chip.

I just assumed there was a wire install

Yes, one would assume there would be a wire install.  Why there was one not included, I don't know.  But yes, soldering wires in the quicksolder spots would work.  It's what many people did with the X1's.
