X2 2.2 Pro, No Led's
« on: July 11, 2003, 07:10:00 AM »

Ok ... here is the situation.  I've got a 1.1 that my friend has been using with a first run Matrix with the 4976.02 x2 flash and it was working great for months.  I originally soldered the d0 to the alternate point to avois and alignment problems.  One day FRAG!  I figured perhaps the d0 connection was bad ... nope.  I thought perhaps the LPC points were not lined up ... nope.  I then pulled out the Matrix and reflashed it ... nope.  I am even getting a FRAG with the chip removed.  OK, now I was mad, I bought a X2 2.2 Pro.  Soldered the header in and powered her up ... FRAG.  There appears to be no power going to the LPC since the LED's on the 2.2 are not lit up.  Any ideas.  P.s. by the way, the board was never messed with in any way other than soldering to the d0 on the back.  And yes, my solder connections are good on the LPC header, I've done this a few times before.

Intelligent responses begin now...

I'll have to check it with a meter tonight.  I don't think that there is a short on the back of the d0, I am pretty careful from my days of installing the 28 wire enigmah's.  Splashed solder... I suppose it is a possibility, I don't think so but you never know.  I have not had good luck with the 4976.02 that I have.  Any chance of you PM'ing me or emailing me with where I can get the 4977?

OK, I got the new one from the stinkin IRC.  Do you think there is anyway that a bad bios could possibly in some way damage the XBOX?  I have never had any problems until I started using the 4976.02 on Slayers 2.1.

It's possible (probable) that the reason the Xbox is FRAGging with no modchip because:

1.  The HDD is unlocked
2.  The dashboard files are not correct.

I'm not too familiar with the Slayer's disc, but it may have renamed xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe which would prevent the Xbox from booting with no modchip.

Of course, you still have the problem of the Xbox FRAGging even with a modchip...
