Does the MATRIX 'no soder' mod chip really work?  with all versions of the box???
where is the best place to get one?

do i need a modchip in order to swap hard drives?

No, the new Free-X exploit allows HD swapping without modchip.

I get all my modchips from EasyBuy2000

DON'T order from easybuy. If you're going for a matrix, I say order one from www.modchipman.com

I ordered from Easybuy in Feb., it came end of March

I ordered again (for my brothers Xbox) from modchipman on a Wed, it came on Friday. Ditto for the 4 other people I refered there. And no.. I do not know the guy... I'm just saying what I experienced.

It's a hit and miss with easybuy, I ordered a mp3 player from them didnt get for like 2 months, ordered my modchip, got within 3 days.

ya, Easybuy is bull! I ordered one cuz it says "in stock" in their website, but then I waited for weeks so I sent them a mail and they bull back saying "Your in our BACKORDER list!" I was like fucked man so I immediately cancelled the order and got one from anothe site. And I think Matrix is the roxxor! It was so fuggging easy to install!!!! But beware, some mobos won't work for the programmer!!! I once tried flashing it in my PIII mobo but it failed!!! luckily, I have a spare P4 mobo and it worked, like wtf is that?

Thanks

I must say I just ordered from modchipman.com myself and this guy is an absolute pleasure.. I also don't know the person, got the url from this thread actually.. But if you're considering getting a matrix, he has em in stock and actually knows what customer service is all about.. Use this dude, and show easybuy we don't hafta put up with their BS... Definate 2 thumbs up here.

personally, i didnt have a problem with easybuy, it just took like 3 weeks to get the modchip.
Although, my friend also orddered rom them, took him 4 weeks, and when he got it, they sent him a faulty programmer. So luckily i still had mine, but the programmer is the expensive part, and it didnt even work for him... i would have been pissed.

The matrix no solder works fine.  Its just that it has a 256K bios.  That means that it wont be compatitlbe with new larger 512K bios that are rumored to be comming out soon.  Also the matrix does not stall alligned to well.  Alot of people have had problems with this.

I think the chameleon or x2.2 seriers is a better alternative.  If cannot solder go to a professional.  There are alot of people on these forums that do good work at a good price.

Good luck.

BTW dont order from easybuy, try to find another site.  I try to aviod easybuy.  Only use it when I have to (unfortunatly they are offical resellers of alot of mods so you have to go through them sometimes i.e. Chameleon preorders)
